After President Gabriel Boric promised to expedite a new bidding process for the continuity of the works of the Dr. Oscar Hernández Escobar de Curacautín hospital, the Araucanía Norte Health Service published the so-called tender that will allow the resumption of the replacement project of the hospital.
It was during his visit to La Araucanía, held on November 11, that President Boric mentioned the bankruptcy of the construction company Claro Vicuña Valenzuela (CVV), which affected more than 30 projects nationwide, including this emblematic project of the province of Malleco. In this context, the Government is committed to the construction of this care complex that for the second time paralyzed its works.
On October 21, 2022, when the works reached 55% total progress and 53% financial progress, the CVV company reported its liquidation process, which left 107 workers affected by bankruptcy.
During the months of November and December 2022, the Health Service carried out a series of actions related to joint responsibility with the workers, in addition to the early termination of the contract, crucial to be able to start a new bidding process.
In this sense, the provincial presidential delegate of Malleco, Andrea Parra, assured that “if all goes well, in July of next year the works could be starting and, in this way, we can take on the President’s commitment. There is this willingness to attend to the citizenry, to answer for our patrimony as a government to pay the salaries of the workers that were left in the air after the fall of the company,” said the authority.
For his part, the Seremi de Salud, Andrés Cuyul added that “we have put a lot of effort to advance in the establishment of a robust assistance network in the province of Malleco. For our Government it is very important to start these works as soon as possible and give the Curacautín community the hospital they deserve”, said the representative of the health portfolio.
The amount available for this call is $9,500 million pesos and it will be open for 60 days, thus fulfilling one of the measures announced by President Gabriel Boric during his visit to La Araucanía”.
The project contemplates the construction of 8,871 square meters, it will have 25 beds, six dialysis chairs, emergency care and a polyclinic; with a family health model with a sectorized population, among which are cardiovascular care, dental care, healthy child control and women’s health.
