The inauguration of Brescia and Bergamo Italian Capital of Culture 2023 is approaching, with the arrival of the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella: the city is preparing with some changes to normal daily activities.

From 5pm yesterday afternoon, the lighting in Piazza Vittoria was temporarily changed to allow rehearsals for one of the inaugural shows of the Italian capital of culture and the positioning of a high-tech light tower, also necessary for the show . The main lighting of the square will therefore be switched off, while the lights of the side arcades will always be active and functional to allow people to move around in safety.

The light tower will remain positioned in Piazza Vittoria until the end of the inauguration (Sunday 22nd included), it will be manned both by the local Police (already present in the square regularly but which will intensify their presence for those days), and by an additional security service with particular use at night. The lighting of the square will remain modified until the end of the inauguration, to then be regularly restored starting from Monday 23rd.

Garbage collection

Changes also on the waste collection front. The communication comes from A2A. On Friday 20 January (“for reasons of public safety and to ensure the dignity of the city on the occasion of the visit of the President of the Republic for the inaugural ceremony of Bergamo – Brescia Italian Capital of Culture”) the supplementary collections for non-domestic users of the center ( red zone) will undergo the following changes: the daytime supplementary collection of glass, paper and plastic for non-domestic users will not be carried out and will be brought forward to Thursday in the usual way, with displays from 6 to 8; the evening supplementary collection of paper and plastic for non-domestic users will not be carried out and will be brought forward to Thursday in the usual manner, with displays from 7 to 7.30 pm.

Any exposures at different times than indicated, specify by the A2A offices, “may lead to the official removal of the waste containers by the Public Authority and the consequent administrative sanctions”. Hence the hope: “Let’s make Brescia the capital of kindness, respect and cleanliness: making everyone appreciate our city depends on each of us”.
