The “Cultural Sundays from the Summit of Cerro Ñielol” have been a complete success, organized by the Friends of the Tree Society in collaboration with the Directorate of Tourism, Heritage and Culture of the municipality of Temuco, which since January 9 has brought A cultural tradition is back with a large musical program that brings together the whole family on Sundays in January and will run until February 19, completely free of charge.
The Bohemia Jazz Band and the Temuco Philharmonic Orchestra were the first presentations that filled the Ñielol terrace with attendees and which, for this Saturday, January 22, starting at 12:00 p.m., plans to have the renowned regional blues band , Coolcalts, who will present a repertoire of the national songbook, blues classics and songs from their next album.
“As a municipality we continue to work with activities that allow families to gather and enjoy the various spaces that exist in our commune of Temuco, for the same reason, we want to leave everyone invited to enjoy music in the midst of the natural heritage of our Cerro Ñielol , with a musical program headed by top-level regional artists who come to celebrate the 142 years of our commune,” said the mayor of Temuco, Roberto Neira Aburto.
Mario Blaauboer Valdéz, president of the Friends of the Tree Society, said he was happy to resume an initiative that was suspended as a result of a fire that occurred in 2020 and the subsequent pandemic. “At that time we were forced to suspend this activity, but as soon as we saw the possibility of returning, we have returned with more strength to have these cultural Sundays as an attraction for our neighbors and tourists who visit our city,” he said.
The Cultural Sundays calendar contemplates the participation of the Musical Cast of the Temuco Folkloric Ballet, on January 29; the Gorbea Polyphonic Choir, on February 12 and to close the live music cycle, on February 19 the lyrical singer John Povis Erazo will perform, in a concert that hopes to captivate the audience.
