The Grammys ceremony, the equivalent of the Oscars for the American music industry, must come to crown Sunday February 5, 2023 a year (2022) rich in great success albums, including Renaissance by Beyoncé and 30 by Adele. A competition that suggests that the clash of six years ago between the two singers could be replayed.
Beyoncé dominates the nominations this year
Nominated in 9 categories, Beyoncé leads the nominations this year, while Adele competes in 7 categories (see details at the end of the article). But their two albums will face each other in the most prestigious categories, six years after a duel which had turned to the advantage of the second. In 2017, the British artist crushed her competitors in the main categories, winning five awards with her album 25, at the expense of the Houston-born singer, whose album Lemonade, now a classic, had to settle for the Grammy Award for best album of contemporary urban music. On stage, Adele had paid tribute to Queen (Queen) Beyoncé, and the Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, which awards the awards, was accused once in addition to relegating African-American artists to the background.
Beyoncé could break all-time Grammys record
According to the predictions of the specialist magazine Billboard, the Grammy Award for Best Album would go this time rather to Beyoncé for Renaissance, while Adele would win that of the Song of the Year with Easy On Me. Nevertheless, the surprises of the previous editions invite us to beware. Especially since Kendrick Lamar (eight nominations), Harry Styles, Brendi Carlile and Taylor Swift are also among the favorites of this 65th ceremony. Whatever the outcome, history is on for Beyoncé: with the 9 nominations for this edition, she equals the record of her husband, Jay-Z, as the most nominated artist in the history of these awards. And if she is already the female artist with the most small golden gramophones – she has some already received 28 and has been nominated 88 times – the 2023 edition could well allow him to take the lead for good and overtake Grammys record holder Georg Solti – he has received 31 in his name and has been named a total of 74 times.
