The second round of voting to elect the person of the year for food and wine and hospitality of Italia a Tavola continues until noon on Monday 6 March – therefore exactly in a week’s time. And in these first seven days more than 90000 voters have made their choice hoping to bring their favorite to the final triumph. A battle to the last vote is expected!

Cooks: Mariola in command Stile and Ricci in pursuit
With more than 20000 voters the category of cooks is led by Max Mariola (of Casa Mariola) with almost 5000 votes and 2000 behind his pursuers Domenico Stile (of the La Torre Villa Letitia wine shop in Rome) and Antonella Ricci (of Ricci tavern in Milan). Surprise for Antonino Cannavacciuolo who after a dream first round is now off the podium in sixth place.
Pizza makers and bakers: Bonci takes Pepe off Marino behind
Franco Pepe (of Pepe in Grani in Caiazzo) has to make room for the rise of Gabriele Bonci (of Pizzarium in Rome) to first place. The bronze medal is currently being contested by Fulvio Marino (from Molino Marino and well-known television face of Rai 1) and Teresa Iorio (from Le Figlie di Iorio in Naples). In this category there were more than 15000 voters in this second round.
Confectioners: Montersino doesn’t give up but Carrara is close. Third Massari
It was a two-way race in the pastry chef category between Luca Montersino and Damiano Carrara (of Atelier Damiano Carrara). There are six categories. There are 36 candidates for each category for a total of 216 professionals who compete to win the title of “Person of the Year”. The dates of the last rounds
The 2nd round will last 2 weeks from 5pm on 20 February to 12 noon on 6 March (at the end there will be 6 candidates); the 3rd round will last just one week from 5pm on 6 March to 12 noon on 13 March in which the public will vote on the 6 finalists in each category to decide who will be the “Persons of the Year”. At the start of each new round all marks will be reset to zero so candidates will need the maximum support of the public to make it through each stage and qualify for the podium.
